Government Programme
The GSMA works closely with governments and regulators in all regions of the world to foster an environment of support for the growth of the mobile industry.
A key element in these relationships is our annual Government Programme of events, which facilitates dialogue between governments and senior executives from private companies in the mobile communications sector.
Ministerial Programme
Our flagship event is the Ministerial Programme that takes place during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona every February, and regularly attracts more than 40 government delegations from all around the world.
We also run targeted regional seminars and workshops throughout the year and collaborate closely with the ITU – with whom we signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2007 – to participate fully in ITU regional summits, conferences and exhibitions.
GSMA Government Leadership Award
The Government Programme also incorporates the annual GSMA Government Leadership Award. The GSMA is eager to celebrate and reward visionary thinking in the public sector and its positive influence on mobile communications policy development. Each year, we recognise one government that has demonstrated excellence in leadership, and present an award for best practice policy development and regulation.
