Roaming Hubbing
Following the successful launch of SMS Hubbing in 2007, the focus for the Open Connectivity project switched to Roaming Hubbing. Roaming Hubbing enables operators to more easily extend the reach of roaming services by establishing roaming agreements with other operators through one or more hubs. OC Roaming Hubbing solutions are now available, facilitating cost reductions, expansion of the footprint for individual services, and improvements in customer satisfaction.
Roaming Hubbing Trials
Roaming Hubbing trials were conducted from January 2008 until June 2008, supported by 28 mobile operators and 10 vendors. The trials covered all continents across the globe and over 830 tests were carried out. The trials successfully demonstrated the interoperability of the architecture alternatives and validated the key processes. Operators and vendors expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the trials, and some of the operator / hub relationships established during the trials have already transitioned to live, commercial services.
