While the world's standards bodies and the wireless and satellite industries, in particular, have made significant advances towards the goal of standard global cost-effective communication (e.g. the GSM Association's sub-50 USD wireless handset), the network architecture behind the delivery of a cost effective service to these users has not overcome the key capital and operational cost barriers.
A Network Architecture is required which achieves a Return On Investment (ROI) for low numbers of subscribers with low ARPU. The Altobridge patented Gateway Architecture has achieved this goal by bridging traditional access e.g. GSM, 3G, 802.11 and bearer e.g. Inmarsat, WiMax, VSAT technologies.
